'SPECIALLY AS YFANDES DID END UP CHOOSING HIM EVENTUALLY (Oh god, now that makes me want fic of Van's Choosing from her POV, especially since I now subscribe to the headcanon that Companions can choose not to Choose someone they feel Called to, if for some reason the person would be unsuited to Heraldic life. I can imagine 'Fandes approaching newly-Gifted Vanyel with a fair amount of trepidation.)
